ProfileScan Server

Search a protein sequence against a profile database

This server uses the pfscan program to search a single protein sequence against currently available profile databases (profiles are also available in a format suitable for frame-tolerant searches using DNA query). The searchable databases contain generalized profiles and alllow the computation of normalized match score (NScores). A list of the prosite collection of profiles is availaible, which includes the documentation status of pre-released profiles. For convenience, the patterns of the prosite database are also searchable from this page.

Usage: Paste your sequence in one of the supported formats into the sequence field below and press the "Run ProfileScan" button. Make sure that the format button (next to the sequence field) shows the correct format
Database: Prosite profiles (NScore)
Pfam-A (NScore)
Gribskov (Z-score)
Prosite patterns (no score)

A pre-calculated list of hits is also available.
